Barneys New York : Men’s Designers Fall 2009 Video

I’ve always loved Barney’s free catalogs and how they styled and displayed the new designer clothes of the season. This video takes it a step further and adds video and an element of street skating. It doesn’t sound like it’ll work but it does. Some of the brands featured include Number (N)ine and Yohji Yamamoto.

The talented film maker and sound artist, Alessandro Tinelli has once again teamed up with Guidi for it’s FW09 Preview. The video was presented at Atelier in NY on August 30 as part of Guidi’s installation.

A couple preview looks from DRKSHDW Spring/Summer 2010. DRKSHDW continues to follow it’s tradition of taking tough materials like denim and distressing them in a way that differentiates them from the mainline. For a diffusion line DRKSHDW has always had the potential to stand out from the mainline while still augmenting other Rick pieces. I think DRKSHDW is really coming into it’s own and if this preview is any indication more good things are sure to come.

Viridi-Anne FW09 Looks

Japanese brand Viridi-Anne is back with some nice layered looks for Fall/Winter 2009. At first glance this the presentation of this collection is noticeably less sombre than previous seasons. There’s a good mix of layering techniques shown here and the down pieces look terrific as they had a sportswear element to the aesthetic. The coats are a mix of materials but most of the warmer outwear has are cut to be long and allow for mutiple layers underneath. The leather gloves here also look terrific and add a little pop to each look shown. We’ll bring you more coverage when the new VA hits stores.

Balenciaga SS10 Looks

The muted colors and sharp tailoring are a good match for the spring and summer seasons. While there are some risks taken here (think the genie pants and silver sandals , the looks are at their best when they remain sharp tailored and simple. Some of the nicest cut blazers and suiting i’ve seen in some time can be found in this collection. I find some of the silhouettes off simply due to how short and tight the tops are cut but at least its a different sort of look than post-hedi.

Obscur Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook Preview

Scandinavian based Obscur is a young brand which has tethered on the edge of breaking through. This upcoming spring/summer season seems to maintain the the brand’s dedication to distressed materials and careful detailing. The previewed coats have an unique detail running down the back : corset inspired staple-like bindings. Definitely interested to see more of the spring line in the near future.
