A good fashion editorial can open one’s eyes to new places, new styles and create a world that viewers can temporarily visit. This is one of my favorites in recent memory. The shoot features some terrific arhive raf items (like the magna cum laude ma-1 black bomber) and several Givenchy Items. We are a little late on these images but we’d like to thank Coute Que Coute for the scans.

Blackbird also got in a new shipment of the patent DBSS sneaks. Always a love it or hate it shoe , but i have no doubt they’ll sell out quick. For Toronto shoppers Nomad is having a 40-50% off sale for most of the store.

Lastly don’t forget to check out Oki-Ni’s first shipment of FW 09 Rick Owens items. While it’s still too hot for outerwear, now’s a great time to grab some more basic items like tees and tanks.

Ann Demeulemeester’s work has always stood alone on runways and city streets from Tokyo to Manchester. While she gets alot of praise for her womenswear , her menswear has been consistently romantic , masculine and enduring. Erik Madigan Heck, editor in chief of Nomenus Quarterly is responsible for his beautiful editorial featuring Ann’s work spanning over a decade from 1996 to 2009. While shot in Mourning Park in New York the intention was to capture youth angst and innocence with a survivalt backdrop (think Lord of the Flies).

In the face of the current economic downtown high-end fashion retailers are forced to come up with creative forward thinking ideas to differentiate themselves in the marketplace. While many other retailers are closing up shop, Comme des Garçons is expanding ; creating 11 new Guerrilla stores for its more mainstream Black sub-brand. “A total of 11 points of sale are rolling out this month and next, including freestanding stores in New York and Paris opening June 22, plus two-week pop-up corners at Barneys New York and Colette in Paris.” While CDG has much experience running successful Guerrilla stores in the past, this will be one of the brands more ambitious attempts to capture a more mainstream audience with lowered price points.

Joffe characterized Black as a way to boost sales during the downturn, which has sent Comme’s revenues in Japan down about 4 percent this year. “Rei said she wanted [Black] to last as long as the recession lasts,” he said. “It’s turning morosity into positivity. We can’t just sit there and cry.”.
